- Solubility: Easily soluble in hot water; soluble in cold water at a ratio of 1:10, with the aqueous solution showing a yellowish-red color; soluble in ethanol to present an orange color; very slightly soluble in acetone, and almost insoluble in ether.
- Melting Point: >360ºC
- Mainly used for dyeing cellulose fibers such as cotton and viscose fiber, and also for paper coloring.
- Can be used as an acid-base indicator (the main component of Congo Red test paper), with a color change range of pH 3.0 (bluish-purple) - 5.0 (red).
- Used in fields such as biological staining and reagents in analytical chemistry.
